Nice autumn sailing, good price

I was looking for a budget-friendly trip and found a 'herfstvakantie aanbieding' for a 'singles zeilreis'. The price was quite good, especially for a week-long trip. I also got a small early bird discount which made it even better. The ship was a klipper, and it was a cozy experience. The costs were transparent, no hidden fees for food or port charges. It felt like a good deal for what I paid, and I met some nice people. Definitely worth it if you're looking to save some money and still have a great time.

Fun trip, bit slow email

We went on a 'familieweekend op het water' last summer. The kids really enjoyed being on a historic zeilschip. The crew was great with them, making it an engaging experience. Booking was easy enough, but I did have a question about the sleeping arrangements and it took a couple of days to get an email response. Once we were there, everything ran smoothly. The ship was comfortable for a weekend. I think they could improve on response times for inquiries, but the actual trip was fun and good value for money.

Weekend on the Waddenzee

My friends and I did a 'zeilweekend' on the Waddenzee. It was pretty chill. We got to do 'droogvallen op de Waddenzee' which was cool. The boat was good and the skipper knew his stuff. Had a good time.

Good sailing trip, clear info

I booked a 'meezeilreis' with Holland Sail this spring. The booking process on their website was straightforward; I found all the necessary details about what was included and what to expect on board. Confirmation came quickly. The ship itself was a traditional tjalk, well-maintained and clean. The crew was friendly and knowledgeable, always happy to explain things about sailing or the area. We sailed on the IJsselmeer for three days, and the route was varied and interesting. Food was organized well, considering it was on a ship. No issues with payment or communication. Overall, a solid experience for anyone looking for a sailing vacation.

Do they ever do last minute deals for like, solo travelers? Or is it mostly group stuff?

Z Zach R. 1 month ago
They do have 'meezeilreizen' which are for individuals, and sometimes those get last-minute offers if they have spots left. Keep an eye on their site.

Yeah, I've seen last minute deals for individual spots, especially off-peak season. You might get lucky!

Considering a weekend trip on the IJsselmeer. Do I need to be some kind of sailing expert to join one of their tours?

L Leah Hall 1 month ago
Nah, not at all! They have skippers on board, so you don't need any experience. You can even help out if you want, but it's not required.

Nope, they handle all the sailing. It's more of a relaxing trip unless you want to get involved, which you totally can.

What if the weather turns really bad during a sailing trip? Do they just cancel it or what happens?

D Danielle Ramirez 1 month ago
They usually have alternative routes or activities planned, especially if it's just rain. They won't sail if it's actually dangerous though.

L Leah J. 1 month ago
From what I heard, they're pretty flexible with the routes. They'll find a calmer spot or offer something else to do if the weather is really crummy, but full cancellations are rare unless it's super unsafe.

Thinking of booking a whole ship for a company outing, but Naupar also looks good. Any strong opinions on Holland Sail versus Naupar for a corporate event?

S Sam J. 1 week ago
Holland Sail has some really cool historic ships which gives it a different vibe than some of the more modern ones I've seen. Plus, they specialize in the flat-bottomed boats, which is unique.

I've only used Holland Sail for a family thing, but the staff were super professional and the ships are well-maintained. I think for a company event, their 'platbodems' could be a real talking point.

Has anyone done one of their 'meezeilreizen'? What's generally included in those? Like, do we have to bring our own food or is that taken care of?

D Daniel Nguyen 4 weeks ago
It varies, but usually, meals are included. Sometimes you help prepare them, which is kinda fun. Worth double-checking for your specific trip though.

I went on one last summer and most of the food was included. We chipped in with cooking sometimes which was a good way to meet people. Definitely ask them what's on the menu!
